2018 Summer: Anderson’s remarkable summer in 2018, where he surpassed Glenn McGrath to become the highest wicket-taking fast bowler, was capped by his stellar performances against India.

Legacy and Future Role

Post-retirement, Anderson will not be stepping away from the game entirely. He is set to take on the role of a fast-bowling mentor for England, ensuring that his vast experience continues to benefit upcoming generations (Sky Sports) (Khel Now). Rob Key, the managing director of England men’s cricket, emphasized Anderson's invaluable contributions and his future role in nurturing young talent (Sky Sports).

England pull off an unlikely victory in india

In a stunning display of resilience and skill, England's cricket team secured a remarkable victory over India in the first Test match held at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium in Hyderabad. This triumph, achieved with a 28-run margin, marks one of the most memorable wins in England's cricketing history, especially considering the challenging conditions and formidable opposition they faced.

Key to England's success was Ollie Pope's extraordinary innings. Pope, showcasing exceptional skill and determination, scored a pivotal 196 runs, which played a crucial role in England's comeback after they were initially trailing by 190 runs in their first innings. His innings not only revived England's hopes but also set a high bar for batting excellence, particularly in challenging Indian conditions.

Tom Hartley, making his Test debut, emerged as a surprise hero with his exceptional bowling performance. After a challenging first innings where he struggled to find his rhythm, Hartley delivered a remarkable turnaround, claiming seven wickets for just 62 runs in the second innings. His performance was instrumental in dismantling the Indian batting lineup, contributing significantly to England's victory. Hartley's achievement is noteworthy as it stands as the second-best figures by an English spinner on Test debut.

The England team's performance was lauded by cricket experts and fans alike for its determination and skill. Former England spinner Graeme Swann described the win as "stunning," while cricket writer Andy Zaltzman referred to it as one of England's greatest Test wins. England's captain, Ben Stokes, expressed immense pride in the team's performance, acknowledging the challenge posed by the Indian team and the importance of maintaining this level of performance throughout the series.

The victory is a testament to England's strategic approach and mental strength, particularly in overcoming a substantial first-innings deficit. The team's ability to stay focused and perform under pressure was evident throughout the match, setting a strong foundation for the rest of the series.

As England and India prepare for the second Test in Visakhapatnam, the England team, buoyed by their spectacular win, looks forward to maintaining their momentum, while India, without the services of Virat Kohli for the first two Tests, aims to bounce back strongly.

This match will certainly be remembered as a defining moment in England's cricket history, highlighting the team's resilience, skill, and determination in the face of adversity.

IPL Final - chennai super kings v Gujarat titans

29th May, 7:30pm IST

Chennai Super Kings vs Gujarat Titans: Who Will Win the IPL Final?

The Indian Premier League (IPL) final is set to be a thrilling contest between Chennai Super Kings (CSK) and Gujarat Titans (GT). Both teams have had impressive campaigns, and both have a good chance of winning the title.

CSK

CSK are the defending champions, and they have a wealth of experience in their squad. MS Dhoni is still one of the best batsmen in the world, and he will be looking to lead his team to victory. Dwayne Bravo is one of the best bowlers in the world, and he will be looking to take wickets and defend any total that CSK set.

CSK have a strong batting line-up, with MS Dhoni, Ruturaj Gaikwad, Ambati Rayudu, Devon Conway, and Moeen Ali all capable of scoring big runs. They also have a strong bowling attack, with Dwayne Bravo, Deepak Chahar, Shardul Thakur, and Maheesh Theekshana all capable of taking wickets.

GT

GT are the surprise package of the tournament, and they have a young and exciting team. Hardik Pandya is the captain and he has been in excellent form with the bat and ball. Rashid Khan is one of the best bowlers in the world, and he will be looking to take wickets and restrict CSK to a low total.

GT have a strong batting line-up, with Shubman Gill, Hardik Pandya, David Miller, and Rahul Tewatia all capable of scoring big runs. They also have a strong bowling attack, with Rashid Khan, Mohammed Shami, Lockie Ferguson, and Yash Dayal all capable of taking wickets.

The toss:

The toss will be crucial, as the team that wins will have the choice of batting or bowling first. If CSK win the toss, they will likely choose to bat first and set a big total. If GT win the toss, they will likely choose to bowl first and restrict CSK to a low total.

The form of the batsmen:

The form of the batsmen will be important in the match. CSK have a number of experienced batsmen who are in good form, such as MS Dhoni, Ruturaj Gaikwad, and Ambati Rayudu. GT also have a number of batsmen who are in good form, such as Shubman Gill, Hardik Pandya, and David Miller.

The form of the bowlers:

The form of the bowlers will also be important in the match. CSK have a number of experienced bowlers who are in good form, such as Dwayne Bravo, Deepak Chahar, and Shardul Thakur. GT also have a number of bowlers who are in good form, such as Rashid Khan, Mohammed Shami, and Lockie Ferguson.

Overall, I think CSK will have the edge in the match. They have a more experienced team, and they have a good record in finals. However, GT are the surprise package of the tournament, and they will not be easy to beat. It should be a thrilling contest, and I am looking forward to it.

England level series with India following record breaking run chase.

Joe Root and Jonny Bairstow put on a batting masterclass to chase down the 378 needed for victory with seven wickets still in hand.

Edgbaston opened it's doors on the fifth day, giving away free tickets to encourage the fans in to cheer the team home yet the ground was still far from full.

Those that did turn up witnessed a performance to be truly proud of. The two batsmen came together with England 109-3 and facing an uphill battle to save the series but some dogged defence and superlative strokeplay clamed the nerves before coasting to what looked from the outside to be a simple task.

This has to be the most exciting England team many of us have seen in years and the next series with South Africa in August will be one to be relished.
